Update of December 14:
Denny Mantel Christmas Sharing Program:
Picture
The 2016 event was held on Saturday, December 10, 2016. The school provided a list of 16 families for us to serve this year (57 children are in this group). The budget for the 2016 event was set at $3000 with the help of a $2000 contribution from Cargill and other donations throughout the year. Volunteers met at the Kroger store at 1934 Needmore Road at 10:30 AM on the 10th. Volunteers teamed up by two's or three's, and each team shopped for a given family, and then delivered the groceries to that family.  It was a great turnout, with about 42 volunteers consisting of club members/family members/friends and several Cargill volunteers. Afterwards most of the volunteers met for lunch & socializing at Marion's Piazza on North Dixie at Noon.  The club wishes to thank Cargill for the financial support of the program, and also to the Cargill employees and families who volunteered, plus all of the volunteers and supporters of the program. CLICK HERE for the Denny Mantel Christmas Sharing Program page. Thanks to all who helped out!

Cargill Chili Cookoff:
Picture
Members of the Northridge Optimist Club visited the Cargill plant on Wednesday, October 12 for Cargill's annual Chili Cookoff event. This was in lieu of the regular club meeting of this week. The event is a fund raiser for Cargill's "giving campaign" in which donors can designate charities to receive their donations. This is a chance for our members to support Cargill as a way of thanking them for all of the support that they have given to our club.  The meal consisted of hot dogs, dozens of chili recipes to try, and many good desserts. Club members enjoyed the chance to meet with Cargill employees.
