PicturePresident Alan with Michael Lippert and Lynn Wood
Meeting of June 23: This program was on The Muse Machine, presented by Director Lynn Wood and Michael Lippert, the Muse Machine Elementary Program Resident Artist. Lynn presented a video overview of Muse Machine, emphasizing the positive impact that Muse Machine has made on students for over thirty years. She pointed out that bringing the arts into the schools not only gives the students a chance to participate in and appreciate the arts, but also enhances their learning environment, with a direct correlation between the arts and the learning process. Muse Machine conducts a couple of productions each year that are open to high school age students. Michael Lippert directs the elementary program which creates curriculum-based art integrated into classroom teaching. Since the 2006-2007 academic year, the Muse Machine Residency Artists have teamed up with over 2300 classroom teachers and over 60,000 elementary students, observed and celebrated by over 150,000 community members. A program can involve one grade level at a school, or all of the grades together. As an example, a typical program involves Mr. Lippert working in conjunction with students over a period of time, helping them to create a play or program based on a particular classroom subject, such as Math, or Social Studies. (The time covered would vary with the number of classes participating). This culminates with a presentation of the program for parents and the community, held at the school. Besides the educational value and learning experience, it encourages the students to work together toward one goal. For more information use this link:

Upcoming:
• Mike Gorman has arranged for a program by the Dayton Regional Manufacturers Association on Tuesday, June 30, our next meeting .  The speaker will be Ashley Webb on the topic of "Manufacturing Matters". This program was postponed back in March, when there was a problem with the room at The Shiloh Grille and the meeting was cancelled.  This should be a very good program.
• The meeting schedule will see a change in July. There will be NO CLUB MEETING ON Tuesday, July 21. Our regular meeting for that week is cancelled, and an announcement will be made later with details for a meeting to be held at Cargill on Thursday, July 23.
• The July 14 meeting will be devoted to planning for the golf outing (see below).
